Pemetaan kekuatan umat Islam Aceh pascadamai menyoroti empat isu: ketegangan dengan NKRI, aliran sesat, kristenisasi, dan pertikaian tasawuf. Dalam setiap isu, respons ulama dinilai belum memadai: ulama ‘diam’ dalam isu NKRI, MPU mengeluarkan fatwa sementara masyarakat main hakim sendiri dalam isu aliran sesat, ulama perbatasan gelisah tanpa tahu tempat mengadu, dan masyarakat terbelah sebagai pengikut dalam polemik tasawuf.
A mapping of the Acehnese Muslim community after the peace highlights four issues: tension with the Indonesian state, ‘deviant’ sects, Christianisation and Sufi controversies. In each the ulama response is judged inadequate: ulama stay ‘silent’ on the state question; on deviant sects the MPU issues fatwas while people take the law into their own hands; border ulama are anxious with nowhere to turn; and on Sufism the public splits into followers of rival ulama.
Dalam isu ketegangan dengan NKRI, tidak ada gerakan atau respons organisatoris dari ulama, dan tokoh terdepan justru eksponen GAM. Dalam isu aliran sesat, MPU ‘bersuara’ melalui fatwa, tetapi fatwa itu dianggap ‘meresahkan’, masyarakat main hakim sendiri, dan MPU baru bekerja pada tahap ‘pemulihan’. Kedua pola ini memperlihatkan jarak antara otoritas keagamaan dan tindakan sosial.
Dalam isu kristenisasi, ulama di daerah perbatasan gelisah dan tidak tahu mengadu kepada siapa; tidak ada respons substantif terhadap keberadaan dayah perbatasan, sementara menurut pandangan mereka pihak lain kian piawai bekerja di wilayah itu. Dalam isu tasawuf, pertikaian antarulama membuat masyarakat terbelah menjadi pengikut, sementara konsep tauhid-tasawuf tertentu telah menjangkau tingkat ASEAN.
Dari peta ini lahir kesimpulan bahwa sebagian umat Islam Aceh memiliki ketergantungan kuat pada negara dan belum menjadi masyarakat mandiri. Kelemahan respons ulama tidak berarti ulama tidak peduli, melainkan menunjukkan bahwa struktur kelembagaan dan jaringan mereka belum siap menghadapi isu-isu yang melintasi batas wilayah, media, dan negara.
On tension with the state, there is no organised ulama movement or response, and the leading figures are GAM exponents. On deviant sects, the MPU ‘speaks’ through fatwas, but these are seen as ‘unsettling’, people take matters into their own hands, and the MPU acts only at the ‘recovery’ stage. Both patterns show a gap between religious authority and social action.
On Christianisation, ulama in border areas are anxious and do not know to whom they should appeal; there is no substantive response to the border dayah, while in their view others are becoming ever more adept in those areas. On Sufism, disputes between ulama split the public into followers, while a certain tauhid-Sufi teaching has reached an ASEAN-wide audience.
The map leads to the conclusion that part of Aceh's Muslim community depends heavily on the state and has not become a self-reliant society. Weak ulama responses do not mean indifference; they show that ulama institutions and networks are not yet equipped for issues crossing territorial, media and national boundaries.
