Junus (Djunus) Djamil was a twentieth-century Acehnese local historian who wrote on the genealogy of the kings and the history of the Aceh sultanate, including Sultan Iskandar Muda. With Ali Hasjmy and Aboebakar Atjeh he was among the local scholars who saw Aceh as a meeting point of Sunni and Shi'a currents and sought Shi'a traces in early kingdoms such as Peureulak, a thesis rejected by historians such as Azyumardi Azra. Other biographical details, including his year of birth, education and offices, could not be verified from the sources consulted.
