Teuku Jacob lahir pada 6 Desember 1929 dan wafat pada 17 Oktober 2007; ia menamatkan SMA di Banda Aceh (1949). Ia lulus Fakultas Kedokteran UGM (1956), belajar di Washington, D.C., dan meraih doktor di Rijksuniversiteit Utrecht (1970) dengan bimbingan antara lain G.H.R. von Koenigswald. Ia menjadi guru besar antropologi UGM sejak 1971 dan Rektor UGM (1982–1986), dikenal sebagai perintis paleoantropologi Indonesia dengan kajian Pithecanthropus dan temuan Liang Bua.
Teuku Jacob was born on 6 December 1929 and died on 17 October 2007; he finished high school in Banda Aceh (1949). He graduated from UGM's Faculty of Medicine (1956), studied in Washington, D.C., and earned his doctorate at Utrecht (1970), supervised among others by G.H.R. von Koenigswald. Professor of anthropology at UGM from 1971 and UGM rector (1982–1986), he is regarded as the founder of Indonesian palaeoanthropology, known for work on Pithecanthropus and the Liang Bua finds.
