Murizal Hamzah adalah wartawan senior Aceh dan penulis biografi tokoh-tokoh gerakan Aceh. Ia menulis Hasan Tiro: Jalan Panjang Menuju Damai Aceh (2014), yang kemudian terbit dalam bahasa Inggris sebagai Why Aceh Opposed Indonesia: A Short Biography of the Founder of ASNLF, Hasan Tiro (Bandar Publishing, 2017/2018; terjemahan Pamela Allen). Ia juga menulis Dokter Zaini Abdullah: Pejuang Rakyat Aceh (Pale Media Prima, 2016) tentang mantan Menteri Luar Negeri GAM dan Gubernur Aceh 2012–2017. Karya-karyanya menjadi rujukan populer bagi narasi tokoh GAM pascadamai.
Murizal Hamzah is a senior Acehnese journalist and biographer of figures of the Acehnese movement. He wrote Hasan Tiro: Jalan Panjang Menuju Damai Aceh (2014), later published in English as Why Aceh Opposed Indonesia: A Short Biography of the Founder of ASNLF, Hasan Tiro (Bandar Publishing, 2017/2018; translated by Pamela Allen). He also wrote Dokter Zaini Abdullah: Pejuang Rakyat Aceh (Pale Media Prima, 2016) on the former GAM foreign minister and governor of Aceh (2012–2017). His books are widely used popular references for post-peace narratives of GAM leaders.
