Muhammad Riza Nurdin is an Acehnese development anthropologist who received his PhD from the University of New South Wales in 2018 with the thesis Religion and Social Capital: Civil Society Organisations in Disaster Recovery in Indonesia. He has researched at the International Centre for Aceh and Indian Ocean Studies (ICAIOS) and was a visiting researcher at the Ritsumeikan Asia-Japan Research Organization. His interests include disaster management, forced migration, humanitarianism, Islam and development, and civil society; he co-edited Keeping Memory Alive (2020), short biographies of Aceh's peace negotiators.
