Mohd Tanwier, dikenal sebagai Baong, lahir di Kuala Simpang pada 16 September 1968 dan bersekolah dasar di SD 5 Takengon. Ia lulus Teknik Sipil Unsyiah (1994) dan magister manajemen Unsyiah (1999), menjadi PNS pada 1995, dan memimpin Dinas PU Aceh Utara (Plt), Dinas PU Pidie Jaya, dan Dinas Bina Marga Aceh Utara. Setelah sebulan menjadi staf ahli gubernur, ia menjabat Pj Bupati Aceh Tengah selama lebih dari setengah tahun di tengah sengketa Pilkada 2012. Pada Juni 2020 Plt Gubernur Nova Iriansyah mengangkatnya sebagai Kepala Dinas Perindustrian dan Perdagangan Aceh.
Mohd Tanwier, known as Baong, was born in Kuala Simpang on 16 September 1968 and attended primary school 5 in Takengon. He graduated in civil engineering from Unsyiah (1994) with a master's in management (1999), joined the civil service in 1995 and headed the North Aceh public works office (acting), the Pidie Jaya public works office and the North Aceh roads office. After a month as a governor's adviser he served for over half a year as acting regent of Central Aceh amid the disputed 2012 election. In June 2020 acting governor Nova Iriansyah appointed him head of the Aceh industry and trade office.
